This Just In: Cliff Curtis Lands Male Lead in 'Walking Dead' Spinoff

Casting for the "Walking Dead" spinoff is shaping up nicely, with actor Cliff Curtis nabbing the male lead.

Curtis, known for roles in "Gang Related," "Boy," and "Missing," will play a divorced teacher, a man who tries to do right by everyone in his life. The other lead is a female guidance counselor and single mother, who has yet to be cast.

The woman's two children, meanwhile, were cast earlier this week. They'll be played by Frank Dillane ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince") and Alycia Debnam Carey ("Into the Storm").

The spinoff, also known by the alternate title "Cobalt," was created by "The Walking Dead" co-creator Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. So far, the show is only in the pilot stage, but is expected to receive a series order from AMC.

It seems that the casting is coming together quickly for this project, so expect more updates soon.
