Saoirse Ronan's 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Audition Didn't Win Her the Role

While there hasn't been any official word about the casting of "Star Wars: Episode VII," one actress who won't be appearing in the new trilogy is Saoirse Ronan.

Ronan, who confirmed last month that she auditioned for the super-secret project, told The Playlist that she didn't end up getting the part.

"I don't have 'Star Wars.' I don't have the role," the actress said in a recent interview. "I just shouldn't have said anything. I just auditioned for it, like everyone else did."

That "everyone else" has been widely discussed, with Michael B. Jordan confirming he tried out for a part, to rumors that the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Cumberbatch are up for roles.

The Playlist reports that Ronan seemed disappointed that she didn't get the gig.

"To pretend that you have a lightsaber in a scene is always very exciting," she told the site, offering a small glimpse into the "Episode VII" audition process. "It would be great. But it's something that everyone's gone up for."

At this point, we're as disappointed as Ronan that she didn't nab a role, mostly because the news still leaves us with little concrete information about the newest "Star Wars" film. Here's hoping Disney releases some casting announcements soon.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" hits theaters December 18, 2015.
