Actress Elizabeth Peña Dead at 55

Actress Elizabeth Peña, whose most recent role was that of the matriarch on El Ray network's "Matador," has died at the age of 55.



Her death was confirmed by her nephew, Latino-Review writer Mario-Francisco Robles, in a touching obituary posted today. She died October 14 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.



Peña's notable film roles include "*batteries not included," "Jacob's Ladder," "Rush Hour," and Pixar's "The Incredibles." You may also know her from her very memorable guest appearances as Gloria's mother in "Modern Family."



She is survived by her husband and two children.
