CBS Orders Full Seasons of 'Scorpion,' 'Madam Secretary,' and More

CBS is doubling down on its fall TV bets.



The network has given full season orders for all four of its new dramas - "Madam Secretary," "NCIS: New Orleans," "Scorpion," and "Stalker."



"These four shows have had an immediate impact on our schedule by improving nights, winning time periods and adding more hours of success across our primetime line up," said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler.



All four shows have varying levels of success. "NCIS: New Orleans" is, unsurprisingly, a blockbuster in the ratings, averaging above 18 million viewers. "Scorpion" is drawing about 15 million, thanks largely to "The Big Bang Theory" fueling big Monday night numbers (the hit comedy returns to Thursdays this week).



"Madam Secretary" has a respectable audience (around 13 million) but skews to an older crowd. Still, the Tea Leoni drama has earned some good reviews and pairs well with "The Good Wife." And while "Stalker" is the least-watched of the new dramas, with an average of 9.5 million viewers, CBS may have just shrugged and said "why not?" At this point, the network is cruising in first place and doesn't have a lot to lose.



The network only has one new comedy, "The McCarthys," which premieres Thursday. So, we'll have to wait and see if CBS is five for five this season.
