Put on your headphones before checking out this trailer for "The Gambler," because it's got a red band for a reason.
This remake of the 1974 crime classic stars Mark Wahlberg as a college professor with a bad gambling habit. (Hey, you've gotta pay off those school loans somehow - those degrees don't come cheap.) In this trailer, Jim is getting a stern dressing down from a loan shark played by John Goodman. The crux of this advice is to get rich enough to be able to say "F**k you" to anyone who wants you to do something you don't want to do. Which is sort of the American dream, right?
This proves to be some shady advice from the looks of what happens to Jim throughout the trailer. Plus, he's got to keep all of this secret from his mom (Jessica Lange) and his girlfriend (Brie Larson).
The original movie stars James Caan, Paul Sorvino, and Lauren Hutton, which is pretty hard to beat. By the looks of this trailer, director Rupert Wyatt and his crew are giving it a real run for the money.
"The Gambler" opens December 19, just in time for Oscar consideration!
