The more we see and hear about the remake of "Annie" with Quvenzhané Wallis and Jamie Foxx, the more we like it... Mostly.
First, we had some questions about Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan, but okay, we'll roll with it. Then there was that emoji video; the less said about that, the better. And now there's this version of "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile."
Power pop singer and producer Sia is contributing three songs to the soundtrack; you can hear her take on "It's a Hard Knock Life" in the background of the second trailer of the movie. However, this stand-alone version of "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile," which is sung by Sia herself, gives us pause. Granted, '80s kids who grew up on the Aileen Quinn version are going to be hard to please - especially now that we're cranky adults! - but this electro-flavored, poppy anthem might take a while to grow on us.
The trailers we've seen include Wallis and pals singing "Tomorrow" and "It's a Hard Knock Life" with aplomb, so here's hoping that there will be at least one chance to hear the cast take a crack at the jaunty classic.
Plus, it's a fact that Quvenzhané Wallis makes everything better.
"Annie" opens on December 19.
