'Game Of Thrones' Natalie Dormer to Star in Creepy Thriller 'The Forest'

US-ENTERTAINMENT-SAG AWARDS-ARRIVALS

Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell in "Game of Thrones," has signed on for her first starring role, and it sounds awesome. Dormer and her fabulous smirk will star in "The Forest," which is about a woman who goes searching for her twin in Japan's infamous Aokigahara Forest.

Here comes the creepy part. Aokigahara Forest is also known as the Suicide Forest, and it's the one of the most popular place in the world to commit suicide. According to Atlas Obscura, "Japanese spiritualists believe that the suicides committed in the forest have permeated Aokigahara's trees, generating paranormal activity and preventing many who enter from escaping the forest's depths. Complicating matters further is the common experience of compasses being rendered useless by the rich deposits of magnetic iron in the area's volcanic soil." Yikes. Naturally, our protagonist meets a whole bunch of angry ghosts in the forest during her journey.

David Goyer, who wrote the "Dark Knight" trilogy and "Batman v. Superman," is producing the film, which is based on an idea of his. The script was re-written by Sarah Cornwell and Nick Antosca. It will mark the feature-length directorial debut of Jason Zada, who has directed a slew of commercials.

"The Forest" is currently slated for release on January 8, 2016. You can check out Dormer in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" this November.
