Production on the upcoming fifth season of "Game of Thrones" has already seen some unusual road blocks, and since filming has moved to Spain, things have only gotten stranger. According to the cast and crew, Spanish fans are so devoted to the series that they've been trailing the actors in packs, and even trying to kiss them on the streets.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jamie Lannister, revealed that fans have been following him everywhere he goes in Seville, Spain, including mobbing him outside his hotel on several occasions, and clamoring for pictures of while he sits at the hotel bar. While there hadn't been too much fuss in other shooting locations like Northern Ireland and Croatia, Coster-Waldau told EW that things were different this time around. Per EW:
"[Fans have] become more intense in Belfast for the first time too, but it's nothing like Spain," says Coster-Waldau, who emphasized that while he appreciates the attention, he's unaccustomed to getting quite so much of it. "They're really sweet, but some are like, 'I've been looking for you for two days!'"
The magazine adds that the highly-recognizable Lannister sibling isn't the only one getting love, with new cast member Toby Sebastian (who plays Trystane Martell in season five) also attracting mobs of autograph- and selfie-seeking fans outside his hotel.
"They are really excited," said Piluca Querol, a local production company director, of the fans. "There are a lot of girls trying to kiss the actors."
After getting a look at Coster-Waldau, could you blame them?
The fifth season of "Game of Thrones" is set to debut on HBO sometime next year.
