'Guardians of the Galaxy' Blasts Off On Home Video December 9th, Features Exclusive Look At 'Avengers 2'

The unabashed highlight of the summer movie season was undoubtedly Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," a joyous space opera that introduced a whole platoon of lovable, wise-ass characters into the already overstuffed Marvel Cinematic Universe. (It was also the biggest hit of the season, with $645 million tallied in the international box office. Not too shabby for a property nobody knew about.) So we're really ready for it to be on Blu-ray. Like really really. Thankfully we won't have to wait too much longer, since Disney has assigned a December 9th home video release, with the property debuting on the Disney Movie Anywhere and Digital HD formats a few weeks earlier on November 18th. Get ready to get hooked on a feeling, all over again.

"Guardians of the Galaxy," which starred Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly and the vocal styling of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, followed a band of misfit outlaws as they decided to try to make things right and stop an evil warlord (Lee Pace) from destroying the universe. Also: there were a lot of "Footloose" jokes.

The Blu-ray release features never-before-seen deleted scenes, making-of featurettes, a gag reel, and an audio commentary (participants have yet to be revealed). Maybe most excitingly, however, is the fact that it will include an "Exclusive Look" at Marvel's next tiny art house feature, "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Boy howdy! As if we weren't excited enough already.

Also: am I the only one who misses the "Marvel One-Shot" short films? How great would it have been to get a little movie dedicated to Howard the Duck or Benicio del Toro's "Guardians" character? Come on people!

Anyway, take a look at the Blu-ray box art below and try to do so while doing your best "Baby Groot" dance. You're welcome.
