In news that will excite white-hat wearing gladiators everywhere, Kerry Washington is headed back to the big screen. The "Scandal" star is in talks for the Warner Bros. movie "Unforgettable," in which she'd play a new wife who's being threatened by her husband's ex-wife. Kate Hudson is in talks to star as the cuckoo ex.
What's especially exciting is that Amma Asante is attached to direct this thriller. Asante is the whizbang director behind "Belle," a period piece starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sam Reid that Vulture dubbed "the summer's secret hit movie."
"Unforgettable" is going to be a pretty female-centric film behind the scenes as well; former development executive-turned-screenwriter Christina Hodson is penning the script, and Denise DiNovi and Alison Greenspan are producing. If Washington does sign on the dotted line, it will be her first film since 2013's "Peebles."
In the meantime, have you seen "Belle"? You should!
