This weekend's "Saturday Night Live," hosted by "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies" star Martin Freeman and featuring musical guest Charli XCX (who scored a major hit this past summer with her song from "Fault in Our Stars") was widely regarded as one of the best of the season. "Saturday Night Live" always flourishes in times of turmoil, and certainly... recent events have given them plenty of material.
But one of the funniest bits of the night was also one of the sweetest (and, in retrospect, most obvious): a charming mash-up of "The Hobbit" (where Freeman plays Bilbo) and the BBC version of "The Office" (where a young Freeman co-starred as Tim). Imagine Gandalf as the Ricky Gervais character, etc. Why are you even still reading this? Just watch it. It's great. Seriously.
