Get the Cherry Pie Ready! 'Twin Peaks' Is Coming Back to Showtime in 2016

After lots of speculation and rumors and ultimate dead-ins, it seems that a deal has been struck and "Twin Peaks," the cult television series that ran for two seasons on ABC in the early nineties, will return to television in 2016 on Showtime. In related weather news, hell has also just frozen over.

According to Deadline, series creators Mark Frost and David Lynch will return to co-write the series, with Lynch directing all nine episodes. The same report speculates that the new series will be set during present day, more than two decades after the events of the first two seasons (and even longer after the brilliant prequel movie "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me") and while it's unclear who from the original cast will return, Deadline is hearing that Kyle MacLachlan will be back to play Agent Cooper, a plucky FBI agent last seen trapped in the mystical Black Lodge.

Mysteries!

So get your cherry pie and coffee ready. 2016 is going to get a whole lot weirder.
