Ant-Man has just taken over for Superman -- at the multiplex, anyway.
Following the delay of "Batman vs. Superman," which just bumped its release date from 2015 to 2016, Edgar Wright's upcoming "Ant-Man" has claimed the former film's former calendar slot, performing a release date switcheroo of its own. Initially set to hit theaters on July 31, 2015, "Ant-Man" will now open two weeks earlier, on the "Man of Steel" sequel's former opening day: July 17, 2015.
"Ant-Man" isn't the only flick taking advantage of the vacancy left by the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader. "Pan," a retelling of the Peter Pan tale, is also moving to July 17, after an initial plan to hit theaters on June 26, 2015.
"Ant-Man" stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas as two different incarnations of the titular hero. Michael Pena is also rumored to be joining the cast.
