The 'Jurassic Park' Velociraptor Crate Is for Sale

jurassic park velociraptor cage

While "Jurassic World," the fourth installment of the "Jurassic Park" series, is still more than a year from release, fans nostalgic for the franchise's humble beginnings can help make the wait bearable by buying a prop from the original film.

An eBay seller has just listed the cage used to transport velociraptors in 1993's "Jurassic Park," noting that it's the original prop seen in the film. Since it's more than 20 years old, it's pretty beat up, boasting some chipped paint, rust, and plenty of dirt and grime; still, it also comes with a prop velociraptor, so we're going to call it a draw.

Bidding has been competitive so far, with more than 150 people vying to own the item. But nabbing a piece of movie history doesn't come cheap: the latest bid clocked in just shy of $100,000, and there's still eight days left until the auction closes.

Obviously, it's not nearly as cool as, say, a custom-painted Jeep or an animatronic dinosaur from the first film. But just imagine all the fun you and your velociraptor could have reenacting the movie's opening scene where a handler gets eaten. If that fantasy is worth $100,000 to you, better get bidding fast.
