David Fincher's upcoming adaptation of "Gone Girl" just got a lot more ominous: musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are re-teaming with the director to score his latest film.

Reznor confirmed the news on Twitter Tuesday, announcing that he and Ross will collaborate with Fincher for a third time. The pair previously won an Oscar for their "The Social Network" score, and also scored "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

"Gone Girl" tells the story of a man (Ben Affleck) whose wife (Rosamund Pike) goes missing on their fifth wedding anniversary. The twisty tale is full of intrigue and suspense, making it the perfect muse for Reznor and Ross's signature moody brand of music. This collaboration should no doubt net the pair additional acclaim.

"Gone Girl" hits theaters October 3.
