Louis C.K. Finally Gets to Tell the Ending to His 'American Hustle' Ice-Fishing Story (VIDEO)

Louis C.K. is universally beloved for his stand-up talents, his self-titled TV show, and, yes, "Pootie Tang." This year has him stealing quite a few scenes in two star-studded films, "Blue Jasmine" and "American Hustle." In the latter, he plays the harried boss of Bradley Cooper's poodle-haired FBI agent Richie DiMaso; as Stoddard Thorsen, C.K. is run roughshod over left and right by an increasingly unstable Richie.

One of the running gags of "American Hustle" is Stoddard's never-ending story about his brother going ice fishing before it's actually cold enough to safely go out on the ice. Richie wants to know the answer, especially since it seems portentous. Is Richie the brother out there on thin ice? Will he fall in the ice? Will their father come out and find them before or after tragedy strikes? Richie's too twitchy to actually stick around to find out, and so neither do we.

Luckily, we don't have to wonder forever. C.K. revealed the genesis of the story and its ending last night on Jay Leno's show. It was David O. Russell's idea to have his character spin a yarn about ice fishing, and it was up to C.K. to make it up. Check out the video below to find out what really happened to Stoddard, his brother, and their father.

You should also check out this trailer for Louis CK's first movie, "Tomorrow Night." He'll be selling copies of it on his website for five smackers, and with a cast comprised of Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, and JB Smoove, can you really afford not to buy it?
