If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.
"Interstellar" star Anne Hathaway was on "The Tonight Show" Monday night, talking about how she got the date wrong for a Matthew McConaughey party and she and her husband accidentally showed up at his house the next day. She actually got the date wrong twice. She also crashed a different party with McConaughey. Anne had to talk about McConaughey at the American Cinematheque gala and she didn't know him too well so she wasn't sure what to say. Then it turns out she had to follow Sandra Bullock, who is not someone you want to follow. Then Anne went to say the first line of her speech ... and the teleprompter broke. It was embarrassing, but for her there's always an embarrassment scale -- and 10 was co-hosting the Oscars with James Franco. "Which is only tied with being honored to accept an Oscar whilst wearing a dress that I knew made it look like my nipples were erect." Ha! If that's a 10, the Cinematheque gala was just a 4. That dress still haunts Anne. She actually burns Franco in both videos, so watch both.
San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner was also on "The Tonight Show," showing off his World Series Championship trophy. Jimmy does most of the talking, though. "MadBum" gave Jimmy a gift -- some "Mad Bum" underwear! So Jimmy put it on right then and there, over his suit! Martin Short was on "Late Show with David Letterman" talking about how awkward things get at junkets for movies. He shared the story of a cross-eyed guy interviewing him alongside Catherine O'Hara. He also talked about an embarrassing trip to the airport with his wife, when they both got the driver's name wrong. It's pretty funny. Long story short, the guy got a $12,000 tip. Martin also performed a tribute to plastic surgery, while lounging extra close to Dave on the host's desk. There's nothing like Dave in discomfort. Martin Short is a gem.
Also on "Late Show," Father John Misty performed "Bored in the USA": Nathan Fillion was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," talking about how it's important to know all the skills of your friends so you can prepare for the zombie apocalypse. He brings friends over to watch "The Walking Dead" and takes notes on how people would react. Jimmy and Nathan decided, if it came down to it, Guillermo would be delicious. Nathan said he loves to scare people and takes his friends to haunted houses. It's sounding pretty fun to be one of his friends. Jimmy also coined the term "criminovelist" for "Castle's" Richard Castle. "Jane the Virgin" star Gina Rodriguez talked about some of her previous odd jobs, including being a "twin specialist" as a nanny. Apparently they "make a killing" in the nanny world. She shared a horrible experience with some twins she couldn't tell apart. After a while, one baby got a bit more plump than the other, and she thought she might've been feeding the same baby twice by mistake! She also talked about her best Halloween costume ever. Jimmy also brought back his Halloween tradition of people telling their kids they ate all of their candy. It's twisted ... but hilarious.
And since the midterm elections are today, last night Jimmy shared a special ad:
Fall Out Boy played "Immortals" on JKL: Jimmy and Guillermo spun the Wheel of Bad Ideas and out popped Wilmer Valderrama.
Kerry Washington was on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," talking about "Scandal" and engaging with fans online. However, sometimes it gets confusing with people angrily tweeting her as if she's Olivia, making the those choices. She also explains what it takes to get blocked. Oh, and Kerry was "Late Night's" 300th guest, so she got a huge thing of balloons and a singing telegram. Michael C. Hall, formerly of "Dexter," was also on "Late Night" chatting about his role as Hedwig on Broadway. Michael said past Hedwigs Neil Patrick Harris and Andrew Rannells reached out to him in a sort of "passing of the wig." Apparently it's really tough to get glitter off your face - and your sheets, and your dog. Scotch tape is the best. "Horns" (now starring Daniel Radcliffe) author Joe Hill (yes, he's Stephen King's son) was on "Late Night" talking about how the devil has a bad rap. Joe thinks the devil could be one of The Avengers.
Craig Ferguson apparently went to Joel McHale's house on Halloween. Joel had 90 people over his house, including about 50 kids. Craig "forgot" to bring in the photo they took at Joel's house. Joel and Craig also talked about the late Robin Williams, with whom Joel worked in his latest project.
Over on "Conan," Conan O'Brien reviewed "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" as part of his "Clueless Gamer" series.
