Melissa McCarthy to Sprinkle Comedy Pixie Dust as Tinker Bell

P.S. ARTS Presents Express Yourself 2014

"Peter Pan" fever is sweeping the nation, with NBC's upcoming live production of the stage musical prepped for next month, and Joe Wright's origin story "Pan" set to hit theaters next year. Now, another Neverland-centric project is in development, and it's nabbed a famous face as its star.

According to Deadline, Melissa McCarthy is set to play Tinker Bell in a new movie from director Shawn Levy (the "Night at the Museum" films, "This Is Where I Leave You"). The film is described as a comedy-adventure story focusing on Peter Pan's fairy sidekick, and will be "a fresh take on the classic tale," per Deadline's report.

Levy came up with the story idea, and "Neighbors" director Nicholas Stoller (who also penned the "Sex Tape" and "Muppets Most Wanted" screenplays) is writing the script. Levy is still wrapping up the last bits of post-production on "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb," but Deadline expects that this as-yet-untitled Tinker Bell project will be the next flick on his slate.

We're excited to see what McCarthy does with such an iconic role. Clap your hands if you believe in her taking on Tinker Bell.
