James Cameron Uses Outdated Slang to Hype 'Avatar' Sequels

It's pretty apparent that James Cameron is a certifiable madman. When he's not launching risky, technologically unproven science fiction epics, he's traveling down to the bottom of the ocean in a one-man submarine or something equally insane and death defying. And in talking about his sequels to "Avatar," Cameron has decided to try something even loonier: bring back outdated slang in an attempt to get people excited for a trio of sequels that we're not sure anybody is actually all that excited about.

Speaking with Empire Magazine (via our good friends at Collider), Cameron teased that he could only reveal one thing about the new movies (the first of which opens in December of 2017): "They're gonna be bitchin'. You will shit yourself with your mouth wide open." It can only be assumed that he said that after doing a sweet kick flip off of his skateboard, while wearing a backwards baseball cap.

Later in the interview (housed within an issue guest-edited by ring-bearer Peter Jackson), he revealed some more tidbits about the sequels: they will be shot in 48 fps (dear god no) after Cameron toyed with the idea of shooting them in 60 fps; the other writers on the sequels were only assigned after a seven-month brainstorming session where they collectively hammered out every story beat; and apparently Jackson inspired one of the movie's most famous bits of dialogue. "When Neytiri is holding Jake and she's just brought him back to consciousness, the 'I see you' line was suggested by them," Cameron told the magazine. "It might have been Peter who said that."

So that's "Avatar 2" in December 2016, "Avatar 3" in December 2017 and "Avatar 4" in December 2018. And he's not even started shooting them yet? This seems like an awfully optimistic timeline, especially considering somewhere in there Cameron plans to open the "Avatar"-themed expansion of Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida. So. Yeah. Making all of this stuff might not be quite as bitchin'.
