Jon Hamm, Rashida Jones, Rob Lowe Will Return to 'Parks and Recreation' for Final Season

"Parks and Recreation" is packing in the guest stars for its upcoming seventh and final season, with two key former cast members -- and one surprise guest star -- set to reprise their roles.

First, Entertainment Weekly reports that Jon Hamm, who had a small, memorable cameo in last season's finale, will return as Ed. Leslie (Amy Poehler) fired Ed during the final moments of the sixth season, calling him the worst employee of the National Parks Association -- even worse than Jerry Larry Terry (Jim O'Heir).

"Parks and Rec" boss Mike Schur told EW earlier this year that he had wanted Hamm to reprise his role, though in a more covert way than expected. "If I have my way, every episode where you see events that take place before that moment will include a shot of him doing something insanely incompetent," Schur said. We'll see if that vision pans out.

Meanwhile, longtime "Parks" staples Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones, a.k.a. Chris and Ann, have also booked a return trip to Pawnee. TVLine reports that the pair have signed on to appear in one upcoming episode of the show. The twosome left the series midway through season six.

We're excited that so many beloved actors will be popping up on "Parks" next year, even if we're bummed it will be the show's final season. There's no official return date yet, but expect season seven of "Parks and Rec" to premiere on NBC's schedule sometime in early 2015.
