Jennifer Lawrence has received some high praise in her day, racking up awards and accolades from both fans and her film industry peers. But the latest bit of love for the star might be the grandest compliment of them all.
In an interview with E! News, Donald Sutherland, who stars with Lawrence in the "Hunger Games" films, raved about the actress, and name-dropped some pretty big shoes that he says J-Law is filling.
"When I worked with her, I realized the child was a genius," Sutherland said at the premiere of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1" on Monday. "She's the right person at the right time in the sense of Joan of Arc or Jesus Christ, any genius, in that sense."
And the accolades didn't stop there. Sutherland, who plays the devious President Snow in the series, added that Lawrence's gifts were uniquely suited to speak to every audience member.
"She has the ability as an actor to tell the truth out of the material and that truth is immediately recognizable with everybody because it hits you in your heart, your solar plexus and your mind," the actor told E!. "And she has the genius of person to be not affected by all of this. She's just a real girl."
Whether or not you agree with Sutherland that Lawrence is Christ-like, we think the actor is right in his assessment of Lawrence's skills as an actress. They'll be front and center as the latest "Hunger Games" film hits theaters this weekend.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1" is out on November 21.
