When Darth Vader tells Luke "I am your father" in "The Empire Strikes Back," it is a chilling, gut-wrenching moment that most "Star Wars" viewers never saw coming.
Imagine if you did see it coming, though? Movie trailers these days give away almost the entire plot (including a lot of spoilers). So, what if "Empire Strikes Back" had a modern trailer? Would certain twists and turns be totally spoiled?
One fan cut together a modern trailer for the classic movie (using music from the new "Star Trek"), and we're happy to see that "Empire" seem as exciting as ever - even with reveals like Cloud City, Luke on Hoth, Han and Leia's capture, and Luke's lightsaber battle with Vader.
It doesn't spoil Vader's big line, but there are hints at some kind of secret about Luke's father. So, knowing what we already know, those clues shouted at us, but for a newbie viewer, they might only serve as low-level foreshadowing.
This modern trailer certainly gives us a possible idea of what J.J. Abrams will do with the trailer for "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens."
