Best of Late Night TV: Chris Hemsworth Revealed as Sexiest Man Alive, Stupid Pet Tricks (VIDEO)

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

Jimmy Kimmel got to reveal People's new Sexiest Man Alive, but first he made the studio audience guess. He is not in a band. He does not like to drive a Lincoln. (Not McConaughey.) He's not over 35. He has not been Sexiest Man Alive before. He is an actor. He is not single. He is only hairy on his head. He was not born in the USA. He has played a superhero in a movie. He has a famous sibling. His hero does use a hammer. They knew! It's Chris Hemsworth! Chris did his Skype interview from Australia, where it was about 12:30 p.m. the next day. He picked up a mirror trophy, joked about getting help from Liam Hemsworth, and failed to diss Matt Damon for Jimmy. He's funny, though, and very charming. But also white, again, and very Brad Pitt-ish. Is that OK? Do you agree with the choice? Jason Bateman was also on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and confessed he's upset because he assumed that he was booked that night to be the Sexiest Man Alive. He said he didn't have anything else to talk about, he just thought they'd be discussing the honor. He even wrote a speech. Hilarious. He should be next, People. Jimmy was on a roll - he also had Courtney Love discussing her nose job and making up with Dave Grohl. Boobs brought them together. For the record, she was a fan of Jason Bateman as Sexiest Man Alive. She sounds coherent, for anyone wondering. She seems to be in a decent place. David Letterman did Stupid Pet Tricks on "Late Show," including this dog taking a drink. Very cute, even if it takes forever to actually get to it in the video:

He also featured a dog riding a miniature horse. The horse did not want to jump over the mini fence. Sweeties. You can tell how much Dave loves animals - more than people: Charlie Day was also on "Late Show," talking about how Paul Newman gave him a rave review and it kept him from quitting acting. Shaquille O'Neal looked way too big for the chairs on Seth Meyers's set, but he talked to Seth about how much he loves to tease Charles Barkley on social media. He even posted a Kim Kardashian butt spoof with Charles's body. Since Charles isn't on Twitter or Instagram or any of that, he can't respond. Eddie Redmayne was also on "Late Night" and Seth said people (including Amy Poehler) think they look alike. They kinda do.

Seth also did a wine tasting with Gary Vaynerchuk and Eddie Redmayne. Good wine tasting tips.

Craig Ferguson had Jane Lynch and Metallica on "The Late Late Show" last night. How cool is that? Jane and Craig discussed how neither one of them goes to Hollywood parties. They both feel very uncomfortable at parties. Same. Here's Metallica performing "Fuel": Russell Brand was on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon and ... he's an acquired taste. If you've acquired him, go ahead and watch him play Word Sneak with Jimmy. Russell is actually pretty good at the game. He's a natural. The man can talk, and this is the perfect game for a talker. In the second video, Russell confronts Jimmy on his impressions of him. Jimmy demonstrates -- and his impression is really good! "It's an honor to be humiliated by you," Russell admits.
