"Maleficent"
Angelina Jolie's delectably over the top performance as the Sleeping Beauty villain will suck you in to this surprisingly dark take on the fairy tale - dark for Disney, anyway. Elle Fanning co-stars as Aurora, the beautiful but cursed young princess who shows Maleficent the true meaning of love. Sam Riley puts on an entertaining show as Diaval, Malficent's transmogrifying raven.
"Hercules"
If you've been wondering what Brett Ratner's been up to lately, well, here's your answer. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson pumped it up even more to play the mythic hero who is apparently now a mercenary for hire, along with a few other tough guys and one gal. If anything, take a gander at the fruit of Johnson's weight-lifting labor. But before you do, soak in this exclusive clip from the DVD/Blu-ray.
"The Sopranos"

"Olive Kitteridge" (HBO)
If you've got HBO on demand and a taste for prestige dramas, you'll definitely want to check out this mini-series based on the short stories of Elizabeth Strout. Frances McDormand leads a righteous cast that includes Richard Jenkins, John Gallagher Jr., Zoe Kazan, and Bill Murray.
"The Eric André Show" (Adult Swim, Thursday at 12:15 A.M. EST)
This goofy satire plays like "Space Ghost" combined with your worst late night cable access nightmares. Eric André stars as the unhinged host, with comedian Hannibal Buress as his straight-faced sidekick.
"Doctor Who" (BBC America, Saturday at 9 P.M. EST)
The last episode, "Dark Water," was full of jaw-dropping revelations, and we expect nothing less from the season finale. No pressure or anything.

"Stand By Me"
Grab a hankie for this coming-of-age story starring Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and Jerry O'Connell as fresh-faced young dudes who spend their weekend searching for the dead body of a local teen. Directed by Rob Reiner, based on the novel by Stephen King, "Stand By Me" will give you all of the feels. And you'll also have the theme song stuck in your head for weeks.

It's been three years after 140 million people disappeared from earth without a trace, and the people who were left behind are, quite frankly, a mess. There's a local cult called the Guilty Remnants, who wear all white and refuse to talk and chain-smoke; there's a random holy man offering hugs; there's the chief of police who's going crazy... It's all a gas. Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, and Margaret Qualley lead the ensemble cast.
"The Spectacular Now" (Amazon Prime)
Miles Teller stars as a charming high school alcoholic named Sutter who falls for a slightly odd but incredibly sweet girl named Aimee (Shailene Woodley). This is a beautiful, funny, moving coming-of-age film with a great ensemble cast (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Bob Odenkirk, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kyle Chandler), a wonderful script by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, and lovely direction by James Ponsoldt.
