A University of Kentucky basketball game was briefly transformed into Panem last weekend when "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson received a familiar greeting while addressing the crowd.
Hutcherson, a Kentucky native, took the mic during halftime of the UK-Louisville game to say hello to fans, and was welcomed by the three-fingered salute that his "Hunger Games" character Peeta and others use in the books and movies. The salute, a sign of respect and solidarity in the districts of Panem, soon becomes a signal of rebellion in "Catching Fire," though the Wildcats fans at Saturday's game seemed to be using it more out of happiness than defiance.
Hutcherson's fellow "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence is also a Kentucky native, though she's from Louisville. If she wants to join Hutcherson -- a diehard Wildcats fan, wearing head-to-toe blue at the game -- for the next Kentucky-Louisville showdown, the pair will probably have to sit at opposite ends of the arena.
