Angelina Jolie may be an Oscar-winning actress and one half of one of the most recognizable celebrity couples on the planet, but she's also been heavily involved in humanitarian efforts for years. Now, Jolie says she may consider parlaying that political activism into a run for elected office.
In an interview with Vanity Fair for the upcoming December issue's cover story, Jolie discusses how her activism has enforced her political beliefs, and wonders how that might affect her decision on whether or not to run for office some day.
"When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered," she told Vanity Fair. "Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility. ... But I honestly don't know in what role I would be more useful-I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible."
While the actress, who was recently named an honorary dame by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of her humanitarian work, remained unsure of her future plans, she noted in a follow-up conversation with the magazine that she hadn't yet made a decision -- but was keeping all options on the table.
"I am open," Jolie said, in response to a direct question about a life in politics.
If Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger can do it, why not Jolie? Start printing those "Angie 4 Prez" bumper stickers now.
