Jay Leno to Return to 'The Tonight Show' As a Guest This Week

American Friends Of Magen David Adom's Red Star Ball

Following his exit from hosting duties back in February, Jay Leno will return to "The Tonight Show" as a guest later this week.

Leno will sit down with current host Jimmy Fallon, his first time back on the "Tonight" set since his departure from NBC. He'll be there to promote his recent acceptance of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, which he received last month during a ceremony that will be broadcast on PBS on November 23.

Leno became the reigning king of late night when he took over "Tonight" in 1992, hosting the show until 2014 -- with a brief blip from 2009-2010, when Conan O'Brien was awarded the job. Leno took it back seven months later, and held on until NBC requested another late night shakeup, handing Fallon the coveted position earlier this year; Fallon's iteration of the show has been a big ratings success for the network.

Leno will join fellow Fallon guests Lucy Liu and Kevin Delaney. His "Tonight Show" appearance is slated for Friday at 11:35 p.m.
