"It's a Wonderful Life." "Christmas in Connecticut." That Muppets special where John Denver sings a bunch of songs with the Muppets and it makes you feel oddly gooey inside. Be prepared to add another title to the list of "certifiable Christmas classics" when "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever" premieres on Lifetime on November 29th. Just watch the trailer below for confirmation.
In the movie, which is of course based on the Grumpy Cat meme that became a kind of merchandising bonanza (which was probably to be expected given how much Grumpy Cat resembles Garfield), concerns a young girl (Megan Charpentier) who is given the Christmas miracle of being able to communicate (via mind powers or some such) with Grumpy Cat (voiced by Aubrey Plaza). Honestly, this looks uncomfortably similar to a movie called "A Talking Cat," which features Eric Roberts as the voice of a talking cat and is maybe one of the most harrowingly awful movies ever.
Here's hoping Plaza's self-aware delivery of lines like "Oh wait I forgot this is a Lifetime movie" and the fact that Grumpy Cat is totally the best can elevate it above the likes of "A Talking Cat" (seriously - seek this movie out, Roberts slurs all of his dialogue as the cat and it sounds like his audio was recorded in a cavernous bathroom). It just could be the Christmas gift we've all been waiting for.
