Zach Braff is back behind the camera (and in front) again for "Wish I Was Here," his latest look at family life, growing older, and the semi-new issue of aging parents needing care. This is a project very close to his heart.
"Wish I Was Here" is a Kickstarter-funded film; Braff launched the campaign in April of 2013 to make $2 million to help create the film, and the rest is history -- they hit the target in three days.
The movie follows Aidan Bloom (Braff), a 35-year-old feeling directionless in his life. He hits a major crossroads, and the consequences of his choices will have effects on his wife (Kate Hudson), his kids, and his father (Mandy Patinkin). [Interesting-yet-sad side note: this is James Avery's last film.]
Moviefone Canada sat down with Braff on a recent press tour to Toronto, where he talked about pouring his heart in soul into "Wish I Was Here," and how much the movie reflects his real-life sibling and father.

"Wish I Was Here" opens in select theatres on July 18.
