'Hocus Pocus' Sequel Conjures Up Support From Stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy

Hocus Pocus

Halloween may be over for the year, but love for Disney's 1993 spooky cult classic "Hocus Pocus" lives on -- and its three original stars all want to make a sequel.

While promoting her new album during a Reddit AMA, Bette Midler was asked about the possibility of "Hocus Pocus 2," and she answered that she was interested, but had no control over the idea. When Redditors continued to pester the singer-actress about the possibility of reprising her role as the eldest Sanderson sister, Midler once again assured commenters that she'd be on board -- but needed fans to get Disney behind the project.

"Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are wiling to do it," Midler wrote, "but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney company." The star added, "SISTAHS!," a callback to a line in the film, to punctuate her point.

Co-star Kathy Najimy confirmed her interest in the project on Twitter, writing in a series of posts that Midler speaks for the original trio, and that she'd star in a sequel in a heartbeat. She further commented on the prospect in an email sent to BuzzFeed:

I have read Bette's quote and I agree. The outpouring of love from Hocus-ites has been astounding. The creativity of their Sanderson sisters costumes, posters, artwork, t-shirts, statues, TV stills, photos, compliments and line quotes have blown up social media and I want them to know ... We see and appreciate it all. When a film is being shot, you never quite know the impact.. If it'll be a hit or a miss, and..with this one ... we hear y'all loud and clear! A sequel is totally in The Disney company's hands - And it will be exciting to see what transpires!

And when reached by BuzzFeed, Sarah Jessica Parker also threw her witch's hat into the ring, offering a simple affirmation of her interest on Twitter.

So with all three original leads on board, it's only a matter of time before Disney resurrects the Sanderson sisters, right? We're keeping our brooms crossed.
