'The Purge 3' Is Coming to Cause More Mayhem

The Purge Anarchy

Get ready for another long, terrifying, lawless night of mayhem and murder - "The Purge 3" is officially greenlit.

Deadline reports that development has begun on the follow-up to 2013's "The Purge" and this year's "The Purge: Anarchy." It's a total no-brainer: The two movies combined cost $12 million to make and earned over $200 million worldwide.

"I never imagined that 'The Purge' would become the phenomenon it has become," writer/director James DeMonaco told Deadline.

"The Purge" is a thriller set in a future when nobody commits any crimes - except for one night a year, when all laws are ignored. That night, everything from murder to theft to rape are permissible. People either go on crime sprees, or barricade themselves in their homes.

It's unclear which (if any) of the previous films' stars would return for "The Purge 3," though Michael K. Williams has hinted that he would be involved. Whoever is in the cast had better get ready for some pandemonium.
